How do you get utility bills?
We get access to your utility bills using your login credentials, ensuring immediate data retrieval into Enertiv. If one of your providers doesn’t have an online portal, include us in your billing correspondence or share with us your current method of receiving bills. Our goal is to adapt to your existing processes to ensure we collect all necessary utility data efficiently.
Do I have to install hardware to collect consumption data?
No, hardware installation is not mandatory. We provide two options:
Shadow Metering: Captures tenant utility data automatically without requiring tenant interaction.
Software-Only: We capture data directly from utilities that provide data for energy benchmarking or tenants can submit utility bills through a portal or email, which we then digitize and upload to Energy Star.
You can start with the software option and have the flexibility to switch to hardware solutions if you face challenges in collecting bills or securing tenant cooperation.
Do we have to have internet in the building or cellular?
We deploy dedicated cellular networks so that installations do not have to involve IT teams.
Are there standard specifications for meters given that we have ongoing development and construction?
The meters we source are designed to be fully open and non-proprietary, ensuring maximum flexibility. We design every project scope to capture accurate data with the path of least resistance, at the lowest cost while ensuring integration with your future developments.
How intrusive is shadow metering? Do I have to ask tenants for permission?
Shadow metering is minimally intrusive, often requiring no tenant permissions as seen among some of our largest clients. We use multi-point smart meters and split-core current transformers (CTs) installed on tenant loads from the main switchgear. This setup allows for direct electricity consumption measurement and mapping to specific tenants through our software without intervention in tenant spaces.
